Grimsby Doors Open – September 21, 2019

When you try something for the first time, you cross your fingers and hope it will be… a success!

The Grimsby Photo Group was approached by the Town of Grimsby to participate, as a sponsor, to the 2019 Grimsby Doors Open, on Saturday, September 21, and we felt honoured to engage in community life in this very uplifting event.

Twelve amateur photographers answered the call and volunteered their time to photograph scenes from all 12 event locations, spread out around town. Armed with their photographic gear and fueled by pizza slices and chocolate (is there a better combination?), they captured memorable scenes around our local heritage at the following sites:

Biggar Lagoons Wetlands
Carnegie Building
Casablanca Waterfront Trail
Elizabeth Street Pumphouse
Fire Station 2
Grimsby Museum
Hagar Public School
Harmony Jewellers
Nelles Manor Museum
Sentimental Farm
Simply Moto
St. Andrew’s Church

Pictures were collected and sent to the Town of Grimsby, where they will be used to promote this event next year, and included in marketing and promotional materials from the town. Well done!

A BIG thank you to all who participated in this successful endeavour, one that will most likely be repeated in the years to come.

Some feedback from the Town:

I download the pictures! They look amazing!
So glad we could partner with you. Wondering if there are other opportunities for us to work together. (Trevor R.)

Your photographers did an amazing job on the day of the event and I can’t wait to see the final products. Thank you for all your hard work, we will absolutely keep you in mind for future events! (Monica B.)

  1. From this amateur photographer’s perspective, the Grimsby Doors Open day was a lot of fun for me too. Thanks for the opportunity to show what we can do for fun. Glad the photos from all of us were so well accepted. Onward to next year and perhaps other events in the meantime.
    Thanks again. Sincerely, Michael
