Composition – Part 4: Colour Theory
With the support of videos from Creative Live, we looked at colour principles, and how they differ from a painter’s world to the digital world.
Topics covered: Importance of Colour Theory, Colour Wheel, Hue, Saturation & Complementary colours, and a basic colour adjustment demonstration.
A number of links were also provided for further information and study (all are available on our Website, under Resources).
July Project of the month – Nature Patterns
With 35 participants and 51 photos submitted, this project was surely a big hit!
Those who submitted a photo for the Photo Project of the Month qualified for a draw. The prize was a $20.00 gift card from Henry’s, and the lucky winner was Sanford Hersh. Congratulations, Sanford!

September Photo Project of the Month – Colour your World
The theme of our next Photo Project of the Month is “Colour your World”, with a submission deadline of Sunday, October 7, 2019.
All photos will have to be submitted as follows:
- Upload your photos using wetransfer.com
- Email your photos to grimsbyphotogroup@gmai.com
- Email Subject: Project name + participant name (example: Nature Patterns – Your Name)
- Photo size: Minimum 1600 px on the long edge.
October Project of the Month: TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON
This project will involve printing and matting, and to all for more time to do so, the theme of the project will be announced on Monday, September 23. Stay tuned…
Half-year Membership
The Grimsby Photo Group offered a half-year membership at a cost of $25.00 dollars, covering members from September 1, 2019 to January 31, 2020.
This opportunity allowed our membership to grow, and we now have a total of 34 members. Thank you for your support! Memberships for this year are now officially closed.
Announcements
1) The Grimsby Library Children Photo Contest came to a successful close, with the selection, printing and framing of winning photographs (4 in total: 2 in each group category). A big thank you to those who participated in the winners selection, and to Terry Lett and Hans Voorberg for photographing the winners and their families!
This positive experience will definitely be repeated next Summer!
2) Other Summer outings were planned, with attendance varying between low to moderate.
3) Saturday, September 21 was dedicated to Grimsby Doors Open. Our Group was asked by the Town of Grimsby to capture activities held at all 12 locations of this event. A Volunteers List was provided for attendees to signup at the end of the meeting, and a total of 11 photographers came forward. Thank you!
4) Other Camera Clubs events:
– October 1: An evening with Don Komarechka (Nature & Macro). Free admission
– October 29: Freeman Patterson (Fee: $20.00)

– Art Ward invited the audience to attend a presentation from the Hamilton Camera Club on September 19, at 7:00 pm, at the Hamilton Public Library.
5) Fall workshops have been pencilled in (final dates to be confirmed):

– Saturday, October 26: Post-processing (part 2)
– Saturday, November 23: Book Making
